Mash-ups are always a fun listen, especially when they include your favorite band. DJ and producer Drastic X did fans of Phish a solid by remixing eighteen members of their lengthy discography with some of Hip-Hop’s greatest hits. While I admit that the DJ’s choice of Phish songs are of the lesser likings compared to the beastly numbers matched by 2Pac, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, Talib Kweli, Lauryn Hill, and so many more of the timeless voices in Hip-Hop’s greatest hits, the 60-minute mash-up still impresses with distinct entertainment value.

I used the opportunity to listen to the mix all the way through while spending time in the gym, and it sure did provide me with some unprecedented energy and motivation. Phish is always a source of inspiration, but when it’s matched with the rhythms of some classic beats, then you have yourself a complete dance party of the mind, body, and soul!
