Beloved guitarist Eric Krasno is set to release his new solo album, Blood From A Stone, on July 8th. The Lettuce and Soulive axeman will step into a new role on the album, leading the band with vocal contributions for the first time ever. Krasno has impressed on a handful of singles from the new release, but the latest track takes the cake; perhaps because of a very special contributor.

The stories of Eric Krasno and Derek Trucks go way back, to some of their earliest days performing together. We recently shared some great footage from Bear Creek Music Festival in 2008 and 2009, where Trucks sits in with Lettuce, however the roots run deep with these two. It’s beautiful to see how these firmly planted connections have blossomed over the years, and the two pair together extremely well on this brand new track.

Titled “Cruse Lifter,” Krasno takes us inside his thought process for the release. “As soon as I started writing this tune, I thought it would be treat to have Derek on it. He’s one of my favorite guitar players and an old friend. It definitely pays homage to old school Allman Brothers, Santana and some of the great guitar music I grew up on. I recorded the rhythm tracks in Maine with Chris St. Hilaire (London Souls) on drums, Stu Mahan on bass, Nigel Hall on keys and Michael Taylor on percussion. A few months later, Derek and I set up two amps in his studio in Jacksonville and did our overdubs together,” Krasno told us.

Krasno will be touring with his new solo outfit throughout the year, so don’t miss out! It’s also his birthday today, so be sure to celebrate with some funk jams!
