The ‘Core Four’ of the Grateful Dead, namely Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann, will all be performing at this year’s Lockn’ Festival. A huge announcement in Billboard today revealed that Weir and Hart will both be included, joining their Dead counterparts at the Peter Shapiro-run festival in Arrington, VA from September 10-13.

Weir will take the stage with his Furthur bandmate Phil Lesh, as part of a highly anticipated Phil & Friends set that will include Carlos Santana, Warren Haynes, Rob Barraco, Barry Sless, and John Molo. He’ll also be a “featured guest of the day” on Saturday September 12th, so expect Weir to join in the festivities throughout the day.

Santana spoke about the news in Billboard, saying “It is an honor to be invited to share the stage at Lockn’ Festival with my musical brothers and sister, Phil Lesh, Warren Haynes, Phil’s Band as well as my talented wife, Cindy Blackman Santana… Each bring their own unique vision and touch that will make for a rainbow explosion of sound, resonance, vibration that will touch everyone at the center of their heart. I know my brother, Jerry Garcia, will be smiling down on us as we compliment and soar into the heavens to create a new landscape of light & love, where time, space and gravity disappears and it is just the music and your heart.”

Meanwhile, Mickey Hart will join the lineup in a number of collaborations, including a set with EOTO (featuring String Cheese drummers Jason Hann and Michael Travis) and two late night sets with guitarist Steve Kimock & more as part of a “Deep Rhythm Experience”. Far out.

Kreutzmann was already present on the Lockn’ lineup, as he’ll be performing with his new band Billy & The Kids and taking part in the 50th anniversary celebration for a fellow Bay Area band, Jefferson Airplane. The Billy & The Kids set will also feature sit-ins from Jason Hann, Dominic Lalli, John Popper, and more!
