San Francisco CBS Local has discovered tapes featuring interview footage with the late great Jerry Garcia. Sitting down with Kate Kelly in 1988, Garcia talks about the Dead’s first-ever music video for “Touch of Grey,” before delving into a discussion about drugs, his diabetic coma, and his legacy.

Perhaps one of the best quotes from the tapes comes when Garcia is asked how he’d like to be remembered. Laughing about the question, he says, “Geez I don’t know… I’ve never thought about it.” Garcia continues, “I’d like to be known as the guy who had a pretty good time while he was here. You never know, you could go at any moment, so you might as well just try to be proud as much as you possibly get to in your life.”
