On Friday, August 12th, piano virtuoso and mad scientist Marco Benevento will bring his trio of bassist Dave Dreiwitz (Ween / Joe Russo’s Almost Dead) and drummer Andy Borger (Tom Wait / Ani DiFranco) to New York City’s American Beauty, a show presented by Live For Live Music. Benevento’s sound is an amalgamation of so many styles, from lush instrumental piano compositions to indie pop, and psychedelic rock to experimental jazz, the guy brings it all to the table, and effortlessly at that.

At this point in his career, Benevento is carving his own path and taking no prisoners. He is a man on a mission to create his own art, with his own distinct voice. And with the release of his latest album, The Story of Fred Short, you can see the maturation in Benevento’s own song-writing capabilities, as well as his singing voice – which he didn’t even begin to explore until his 2012 album TigerFace.
