The Marcus King Band is one of the fastest rising acts on the music scene. At the age of 21, Marcus King is already known as a force to be reckoned with, with his list of sit-ins and collaborations more or less serving as a shortlist for some of the biggest names in the music scene. Today, King expands his resume with the announcement of the inaugural year of a new music festival, The Marcus King Band Family Reunion, which will take place on October 6th and 7th and Pisgah Brewing in Black Mountain, North Carolina.

Thus far, Blackberry Smoke, David Shaw of The Revivalists (solo acoustic), Muddy Magnolias, Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, George Porter Jr. and the Runnin’ Pardners, BIG Something, Travers Brothership, Ron Holloway Band, Leah Blevins, Gabriel Kelley, That’s What’s Up, and more have been handpicked by Marcus King for the event’s first year. The Marcus King Band will perform a full set on Friday, October 6, and will host a special Marcus King Band Family set on Saturday, October 7, with guest appearances by David Shaw, Ron Holloway, Brandon “Taz” Niederauer, George Porter Jr. and more

As Marcus King explained in a press release about the upcoming Family Reunion, “I remember these gatherings were always the happiest time for me as a kid. A stress-free environment where you are free to love the people you’re around. . . . That’s the aesthetic we want to bring to our festival. Community and happiness. There are no separate agendas being forced on anyone. Just an all-around good time.”

Pre-sale tickets for The Marcus King Band Family Reunion go on-sale Thursday, August 24 here, with the public on-sale starting Friday, August 25. To pay the good vibes forward, the band will also be donating a portion of all ticket sales to Cannabis Forward, a Greenville-based organization that raises awareness of the medical benefits of marijuana, and Mental Health America of Greenville County, an organization that positively impacts mental health through advocacy, awareness, and service.
