The legendary soul singer Mavis Staples will be honored with a tribute concert in Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre. Titled I’ll Take You There – Celebrating 75 Years of Mavis Staples, an all-star cast of musicians has been tapped to pay tribute to the great Staples.
The lineup for I’ll Take You There includes Widespread Panic, Gregg Allman, Taj Mahal, Grace Potter, Patty Griffin, Eric Church, Aaron Neville, Buddy Miller, Michael McDonald, Ryan Bingham and Marty Stuart. Music will be directed by Don Was, who is also slated to conduct the upcoming tribute concert for Lynyrd Skynyrd in November.
I’ll Take You There will be held on November 19th at 7:30 PM, with tickets going on sale next Monday, September 29th, at 10:00 CT via Ticketmaster. Check out the official event website for more information.
