Hailed as one of the greatest music videos of all time, Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” will be re-released in 3D, according to the New York Daily News. The recasting of Thriller will be led by original director John Landis, whose work on “An American Werewolf in London” led to his initial hiring in 1983.

Profits from the video were the subject of an ongoing lawsuit that was recently settled. Landis said, “that lawsuit went on for so many years, (but) we settled and they paid me finally, and so, actually there is something happening with ‘Thriller.’ ”

The 14-minute long video for “Thriller” includes narration from Vincent Price, and was created with a $500,000 budget – ten times more than any video at the time. To date, it is the only music video to be inducted into the National Film Registry.
