The annual moe. festival, moe.down, revealed some disappointing news today, as organizers revealed that the festival has no plans to return in 2016. The last moe.down was held in 2014, as the festival went on hiatus in 2015 and will continue said hiatus through this year as well.

The moe. festival was a beloved summer tradition, held for 15 years in Turin, NY. A number of beloved bands have played the festival over the years, including Les Claypool, Blues Traveler, Mike Gordon, Lotus and so many more. The news comes as a blow to fans who were eager for the return of moe.down in 2016.

The festival revealed the following statement, confirming the sad news:

We appreciate so many fans reaching out to tell us how much they miss moe.down music festival, and we know there have been many questions on whether or not we have plans to bring it back this year. At present, we do not have any plans for moe.down 2016. The moe.down discussion on bringing it back in the future is very much alive between all those involved. In the meantime, we will be announcing a few other special summer shows in addition to Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre – we hope to see you there!

Of course, one annual tradition of moe.down is to appoint a “Mayor” of the festival. 2014’s Mayor, Rex Thomson, happens to be a staff member here at L4LM, and gave us these thoughts about the band’s annual event. “We’re all sad about moe.down not happening again this year, but true moe.rons will be there whenever and wherever the band decides to play. It’s a tough business, hosting a music festival, and in the end I just want to see the band perform the music I love. moe.ville will always live in our hearts, alongside the love we have for the five guys named moe. My home, my heart, my best friends forever.”

While we can only hope moe.down returns in 2017, its absence for two consecutive years certainly puts a pessimistic spin on things. Still, there is plenty more moe. to come in 2016, so don’t miss the jam band doing their thing across the country!
