My Morning Jacket‘s multi-instrumentalist/jack-of-all-trades Carl Broemel has released a new single from his forthcoming solo LP called 4th of July. The track, called “Snowflake”, is an acoustic track that Broemel told SPIN “…is partially influenced by the interesting but questionable book ‘The Hidden Messages in Water’, where a scientist flash-freezes water drops while participants think happy or sad thoughts. Positive thoughts made beautiful snowflakes and negative thoughts made messy ugly shapes.”

The track “Snowflake” is currently available for stream on SoundCloud. Other album tracks that are available for streaming include “In The Dark” (on SoundCloud) and “Sleepy Lagoon” (on Spotify). All three tracks are available as instant-downloads if you pre-order the album on iTunes.
