Willie Nelson and Neil Young are slated to headline the Harvest the Hope Concert next month, which protests the Keystone XL Pipeline in Nebraska. Taking place on a cornfield in Neligh, NE on September 27th, the duo will take the stage together as activists against the pipeline.

The Keystone XL pipeline would transport crude oil from Northern Alberta down to Texas; a $5.4 billion project that would displace many from their homes, and jeopardize numerous ecosystems along the route. The protest concert will be hosted by Art and Helen Tanderup, who are refusing to sell their land to TransCanada Corp.

According to Tanderup, “Our family has worked this land for over 100 years. We will not allow TransCanada to come in here and destroy our land and water for their profit.”

Nelson and Young will appear in conjunction with Bold Nebraska, Indigenous Environmental Network and Cowboy & Indian Alliance, three groups committed to protecting the land and environment. Ultimately, the Nebraska Supreme Court will decide the legality of the pipeleine in early 2015.

Tickets for the “Harvest the Hope Concert” will go on sale tomorrow, and more information can be found through the official website.
