Though The Beatles‘ story essentially ended when John Lennon was assassinated in 1980, perhaps no musicians will ever have a stronger cultural impact in the world. Thus, it’s no surprise that a studio collaboration between the band’s two surviving members, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, is creating quite a stir.

After the two were photographed in the studio together, Starr’s publicist confirmed that the legendary bassist was contributing to an upcoming album. Starr later posted about the session on Twitter:

They were also joined by Eagles guitar great Joe Walsh!

The Beatles members have been periodically active in each other’s lives, having last worked in the studio together for Starr’s 2010 album, Y Not. The two also performed together at the 2014 Grammy’s, celebrating the 50th anniversary of their first television appearance in the U.S.. Let’s hope more Beatles collaborations are on the way soon!
