The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival raged on yesterday, with dozens of performances and a headlining set from Pearl Jam. Never one to disappoint their fans, Pearl jam was given a full two and a half hour set on the Acura Stage, allowing them to stretch their legs and play one of their classic monster sets.

Despite being a few shows into the tour, Pearl Jam continues to pull new tricks out of their sleeve. After opening with “State of Love and Trust,” the band broke into their first performance of “Arms Aloft” (A Joe Strummer cover) since June 30th, 2012. Of course, classics like “Better Man” and “Alive” made appearances, as well as a cover of The Who’s “The Real Me” with a horn section that included Skerik and more.

The final song of the night, however, was the biggest treat of them all. The band has had Neil Young’s “Keep On Rockin’ In The Free World” in tight rotation, but they called upon Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer for this particular rendition. RHCP will perform at Jazz Fest tonight.
