Athens, GA rockers Perpetual Groove completed their four-night run through Florida, after making stops at Mavericks Live in Jacksonville on Wednesday and the Crowbar in Tampa on Thursday. They then made their annual winter appearance in South Florida, closing out the weekend with two nights in the cozy confines of Fort Lauderdale’s Culture Room. Comprised of front man Brock Butler (guitar, vocals), Adam Perry (bass, vocals), Matthew McDonald (keys, vocals) and Albert Suttle (drums), P Groove played a fiery mix of originals, both old and new, and tossed in a dash of covers to throw the band’s dedicated and ravenous fans over the top.

Friday night’s opening set was chock full of originals, highlighted by “Stealy Man” and band anthem “Three Weeks.”

The band welcomed The Heavy Pets’ Jim Wuest during Friday night’s second set, for a sit-in on “Bobblehead Funk”, which also featured a “Natural One” tease by The Folk Implosion. They ultimately polished off the evening with a cover of dark and dirty Nine Inch Nails song, “Closer.”

Saturday night’s show was focused primarily on the band’s original material, until they brought Jeff Lloyd, also of The Heavy Pets, to the stage to close the first set with a rousing rendition of KC & The Sunshine Band‘s disco hit “Get Down Tonight.”

The second set blistered with Perpetual Groove originals, including a run featuring the classics, “TTFPJ”, “Robot Waltz”, “Sweet Oblivious Antidote”, and “Teakwood Betz.”
