While we were off joking about Bob Weir partying with John Mayer, the Grateful Dead guitarist was busy working out the details of his reunion with another founding band member, Phil Lesh. The two have announced a free show at Lesh’s venue, Terrapin Crossroads, tonight in San Rafael, CA. The show comes as a celebration of the venue’s 5th anniversary, which is today, and the two will be backed by the Terrapin Family Band.

The last time Weir and Phil performed together was in November of 2016, when both musicians were reunited at Jackie Greene’s birthday party. You can watch that here. The two have performed together on occasion since their last large scale performances at Fare Thee Well, but Lesh has given up the life of a touring musician and is not part of the ongoing Dead & Company project. It’s always a treat to see these two longtime musical partners at work together, and it’s certainly reminiscent of the Furthur days if nothing else.
