Phil Lesh has been paying tribute to the various years in the Grateful Dead’s storied career, as part of his personal 50th anniversary celebration at Terrapin Crossroads. Having successfully navigated through 1965 through 1971, Lesh and company turned to 1972 last weekend, playing back-to-back shows that mirrored setlists from two shows in 1972.

The first, on March 28th, was a tribute to the Dead’s show on March 26, 1972, from the Academy of Music in New York, NY. Almost 43 years to the day, Lesh brought out Jeff Chimenti, Stu Allen, Grahame Lesh, and Ezra James, along with guests Alex Koford and Ross James to recreate the classic performance. Lesh started the show with a brief 1972 history lesson, talking about their expansive Europe tour, before diving right into the material. Setlists are below.

The second, on March 29th, paid tribute to the Dead’s performance on December 10, 1972 at the Winterland in San Francisco. The same lineup stuck the setlist entirely, with Stu Allen and Grahame Lesh trading off vocal duties throughout the night. Additionally, Jeanette Ferber joined in for “Playin In The Band” and “Sugar Magnolia,” adding something special to the evening’s performance.
