Prince‘s beloved “Yellow Cloud” guitar has been auctioned off to Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay for a whopping $137,500. Irsay, who also owns Jerry Garcia‘s famed guitar “Tiger”, is a huge guitar collector and is constantly snapping up iconic guitars when they come up for auction. Irsay also owns guitars that were once-owned by John Lennon, Ringo Starr, and Bob Dylan, among others. Irsay bought the guitar during an auction of Prince-related artifacts and memorabilia, as the multi-talented artist passed away in April as the result of an accidental drug overdose.

“Yellow Cloud” was Prince’s go-to axe during the peak of his fame in the 80’s and early 90’s, although he had other “cloud” guitars in white and blue. Prince switched to the “Symbol” guitar when he famously changed his name to his now-legendary “Love” symbol during his epic legal battles with Sony in the mid-90’s.

We can only hope that the Colts owner will one day unleash these guitars on the world for a tour of sorts. Whether the guitars get played by modern greats, or are simply displayed for fans to see, a collection like this needs to be witnessed by the world!
