Folk sensations Rising Appalachia have announced a new album, Wider Circles, which will be supported by a tour through the Southwest and Northeast this summer.  Songwriter-troubadours Leah Song and Chloe Smith will serve up fifteen tracks on Wider Circles, which will be released on April 21st.

In a press release, Ms. Song states that “the album is a deep reflection of the many influences and experiences we have ultimately lived and built our songs on.” The musician goes on, saying that “Wider Circles is a subtle and powerful rock anthem.” The work is inspired by folk standards, Celtic music, European symphonic metal, activist anthems, and old mountain odes. The unique sound is filled out in studio and on tour by Biko Casini on world percussion, and David Brown covering stand up bass, and baritone guitar.

The band seeks to take the soulless glitz and glam out of music, which is so overwhelming in the industry today. The stripped down approach reaches out to those looking for a sense of community in their music. Song remarks that the group are “troubadours, activists, and catalysts of justice.” Hey, Woody Guthrie, it looks like these ladies wrote you some songs. Jump on the train, and join them at some shows that are certain to be remarkable.
