STS9 at NYC’s Best Buy Theater – Saturday, October 17th, 2014

It has been a roller coaster of a year for STS9, with the departure of bassist Dave Murphy, forcing the band to cancel their Winter tour in early 2014. The turnaround was quick, however, with the announcement of Alana Rocklin taking over duties for the McDowell Mountain Music Festival set in March. STS9 confirmed that Rocklin would be taking over bass duties full-time shortly thereafter, and began a summer schedule full of shows and festival appearances.

With the announcement of a Fall tour, STS9 will play their first NYC gig since their 4/20 show at Roseland in 2013. It’s been awhile, and if the social media chatter and reviews of their performances is any indications, the re-energized group will be firing on all cylinders come Saturday, October 17th for their show at the Best Buy Theater (get tix here). Coming off another successful weekend at their annual Red Rocks run this past weekend, the band also debuted the new track “Only Light Remains” (check it out below).

At this point, if you aren’t familiar with Rocklin’s resume, she was a special guest with STS9 at their 12/28/2013 show at Atlanta, GA’s The Tabernacle, was a member of Jim James’ (My Morning Jacket) solo band, backed singer-songwriter Ben Sollee, and was the official bassists for J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League.
