Last night, Tedeschi Trucks Band made a stop on their Northeast tour in Atlantic City, NJ for an incredible show at the Boardwalk Hall. The band has been nothing short of tremendous in 2016, starting off the year with the exciting Let Me Get By album and continuing with sold-out shows nationwide.
The twelve-piece band isn’t shy to welcome guests to the stage, so the audience was treated to a few very special performances from Amy Helm and her band The Handsome Strangers, who opened up the night with an energetically charged performance. Helm has been performing with TTB over the last week, taking the lead on the classic “Angel From Montgomery” and joining Susan Tedeschi and Alecia Chakour for a symphony of vocal harmonies during “Color Of The Blues.”
Helm returned to the stage last night for “Color Of The Blues” and welcomed members of her band for a cover of “It Makes No Difference” by The Band. It was a beautiful tribute to Amy’s late father Levon Helm, who passed away in 2012, and the first time Tedeschi Trucks Band had ever performed it.

The evening included plenty of Tedeschi Trucks Band’s outstanding originals, like “Don’t Know What It Means,” “Anyhow,” and “Laugh About It” off their most recent record, and more from their career-spanning songbook.

Continuing down the path of riveting covers, the band plugged into “The Letter” and “Sticks & Stones,” covers of Joe Cocker that they frequently perform, “Done Somebody Wrong” by the Allman Brothers Band, “That Did It” by Bobby Blue Bland, and closed the night with a Derek Trucks Band original, “Get What You Deserve” with Mike Mattison on vocals, and “I Cannot Make It” by Sly & The Family Stone.
