LiveNation has announced the forthcoming opening of a brand new, 2,500-person venue in Philadelphia. Building off of the legacy created by promoter extraordinaire Bill Graham, the new venue will be called The Fillmore Philadelphia. The 125-year-old Ajax Metal Building will be restored to create the new venue in the city’s Fishtown district.

Ron Bension, President of Live Nation’s House of Blues Entertainment Division, spoke about the new venue, saying “The Fillmore Philadelphia will feature the best sound system of any club its size, unparalleled sightlines, and remarkable food and beverage, making it more than a place for a concert. It will be a true experience.”

The venue will also include a smaller club, The Foundry, a 450-person room for smaller acts, like DJs, local bands, singer/songwriters, and more.

Even Philadelphia mayor Michael A. Nutter commented on the new space, saying “Philadelphia is a city with a proud musical heritage, and we could not be more excited that The Fillmore will join the host of great live music venues that this city has to offer…What’s more, this new attraction will bring thousands of people to the Delaware River Waterfront, which is in the midst of a transformation and poised to become one of America’s most dynamic, exciting urban waterfronts.”

There’s no word yet on who will be performing at the new venue, but more information can be found via the official website.
