The Peach Music Festival made a serious pull through for its 5th annual celebration at Montage Mountain in Scranton, PA. While fans were shocked, disappointed, and full of prayer in response to the news that Gregg Allman would not be headlining the festival this year (with two scheduled sets), festival organizers successfully filled those slots, and the tributes rolled in.

On Friday night, The String Cheese Incident were billed to play with Gregg Allman, as the “Gregg Allman Incident”, but instead were gifted members of Les Brers, also on the lineup, and with several members of the Allman Brothers Band on hand (watch highlights from that set here).

Saturday’s headliner Trey Anastasio and his glorious Band led the crowd through an emotional roller-coaster of delays, but eventually returned to the stage to finish where they left off, in the middle of a version of Phish‘s “Sand”. Umphrey’s McGee executed their “After Midnight” set with a cover of Prince‘s “Controversy”, a song they’ve played only twice. More about that set here.

The Claypool Lennon Delirium made their Northeast festival debut, also on Saturday, alongside Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe, Twiddle, Turkuaz, and Scranton-natives Cabinet. Also along for the ride were Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds, who delivered an especially energetic performance, as did Tom Hamilton’s American Babies, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades, and so, so many more.

Sunday brought the annual “Wake Up with Warren Haynes,” which you can watch over here. Gov’t Mule brought Blackberry Smoke with them, as well as an extended set that featured a mini-tribute to the Allman Brothers Band — filling in for what would’ve been scheduled as the Gregg Allman Band. Additional last minute Sunday acts included Rich Robinson Band and the debut of RB&B, a jazz-infused supergroup comprised of Joe Russo, Marco Benevento, and Oteil Burbridge (watch that here).

Signing off an a high note, this year’s Peach was one for the books. With fans everywhere sending their positive intentions to the health of Gregg Allman, we join them in wishing him a speedy recovery.
