The String Cheese Incident pulled out all the stops for their July 4th celebration, hitting Atlanta’s Chastain Park Amphitheatre for the second straight night. With guest vocalist Rhonda Thomas, Cheese busted out some classic covers, newer material, and the debut of a little Vulfpeck tune called “Funky Duck.”

Vulfpeck continues to pick up new fans in 2016, bringing an infectious blend of funk and groove. One of those new fans must be a member of Cheese, because their cover of “Funky Duck” was on point. With Thomas on stage to channel the vocals of Antwaun Stanley, who sings lead on Vulfpeck’s album version of “Duck,” String Cheese absolutely nails the rendition. Bonus points to Kyle Hollingsworth for holding it down on the keys.

The show also featured a great first-set closing “Signed Sealed Delivered (I’m Yours),” and also saw the band break out into their new song “Believe” and “Sweet Spot” with Rhonda Thomas. SCI also worked in the classic Allman Brothers instrumental “Hot ‘Lanta” into an outside medley, sandwiching the Atlanta-themed song between “Outside and Inside” and “Let’s Go Outside.” With an encore that featured a killer “Black Clouds” and a show-closing “America the Beautiful,” this was a truly spectacular way to celebrate July 4th.

Thanks to taper Dillon Fries, we can listen back to this great performance! Tune in below.
