The Trey Anastasio Band kicked off their fall tour with the first of two nights in Brooklyn, NY yesterday, bringing a slew of new covers and original tunes out on the road for the band’s first performance of 2015. Expectations were running high for the performance, as the band is set to release their new album Paper Wheels at the end of this month, and Anastasio has had quite the prolific year with Phish and the Grateful Dead “Fare Thee Well” reunion.

Settling in at NYC’s newest theater, Kings Theatre, the band got to work with an opening “Gotta Jibboo” to get the show rolling. The band debuted three new covers during the performance, including Bob Marley’s “Soul Rebel”, Crosby Stills and Nash’s “49 Bye-Byes”, and Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park”. The CSN cover came with a great story from Anastasio about meeting Graham Nash giving him advice about being successful as a musician in the early 2000s.
