In sports, there are halftime shows, and then there are halftime SHOWS! Such was the case last night down in New Orleans during the Warriors vs. Pelicans NBA Playoff game when Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue popped off, showing people how it’s done. While the Spurs vs. Clippers series has boasted Game 1 & 2 halftime performance from Coolio and Montell Jordan (because this is how they do it, apparently), NOLA showed why they are the center of the music universe with some real musicians playing. Nothing against Coolio, “Fantastic Voyage” is an oldie but a goodie, however there is just no comparison here. Check out the full video, via Screengrabber.

With Jazz Fest beginning this weekend, having Trombone Shorty start things off with a playoff halftime show for the world to see was most certainly a good start. Shorty is scheduled to play a “Treme Threauxdown” this Saturday, April 25th at the Saenger Theatre w/ Allen Toussaint, Ivan Neville, New Breed Brass Band, and more. Get tickets HERE.
