Despite some natural set-backs, Umphrey’s McGee still delivered a two-hour, rocking “After Midnight” set to the Peach Music Festival — starting around 12:45am due to rain. The night was strong, starting with reliable introductory track “Le Blitz” and swiftly transitioning into “Educated Guess”. The band showed off their impressive improvisational skills with a huge “Bridgeless” sandwich, with a thumping “Wappy Sprayberry” breaking the trusted classic into two parts.Â
Similar Skin‘s 2014 hit “Puppet String” was the theme for the night, making a strong introduction mid-set, with a stellar, improvisational segue into “Hajimemashite”. Things turned Purple when they brought out Prince‘s “Controversy”, a song they’ve played only twice, the last time being at Brooklyn Bowl in Las Vegas in May of 2016, into progressive rocker “Den”.
The night closed “In The Kitchen” with a “Glory”-ous end of “Puppet String”, after two hours of pure rock awesomeness. This was surely a night to go down in the books. Thanks to these Instagram users, we can enjoy some snippets of the fun below:
