San Francisco, birthplace of the hippie movement and the Grateful Dead, saw the band’s legendary guitarist Bob Weir perform at a Pre-Super Bowl party with a star-studded band. Throughout the performance, Promise of the Real front man Lukas Nelson joined in on guitar, as did Dave Matthews Band trumpeter Rashawn Ross. Check out footage of them jamming to “Not Fade Away” below:

Weir’s set also featured takes on the set featured takes on “Dark Star,” The Temptations’ “Shakey Ground” and “Hell In A Bucket,” according to his manager. Seeing an elder statesman of the “Flower Power” generation hob-knobbing with celebrities like Shaquille O’Neal and Guy Fieri is always fun, and we hope Weir’s performance inspired those lucky enough to be there to remember that, no matter which side wins the big game, love is the real winner.
