After celebrating their fifth annual Panic En La Playa festival at the Riviera Maya in Mexico, jammers Widespread Panic returned home to kick off an exciting 2016 winter tour.

The show marked the return of drummer Duane Trucks, who has been the band’s regular rhythm driver since 2014. Todd Nance, a founding member of the band, had previously performed with Panic from 1986-2014, until leaving the group for personal reasons. Nance did return for the four-night Panic En La Playa run, but a message from WSP yesterday confirmed that Trucks would be the band’s drummer going forward. Trucks is also the son-in-law of guitarist Jimmy Herring.

The band’s winter tour started at the Classic Theatre in Athens, GA, kicking off with a two-night run in the band’s hometown. Watch some highlights of the show, including “Tall Boy” and a set-closing “Climb To Safety,” below, courtesy of YouTube user Thomas Trainer.
