In February of 2015, Prince crashed SNL’s 40th anniversary afterparty. There were no plans for him to perform that night, though, until Jimmy Fallon reportedly dared him to. “All of a sudden, the crowd parts and there’s purple smoke and the dude, just floating towards the stage,” the television host remembers.

As Prince made it to the stage, he pronounces, “Dearly inebriated,” before going right into “Let’s Go Crazy.” Immediately, celebrity performers, including Fallon, Chris Rock, Bill Murray, Martin Short, Emma Stone, members of HAIM, and Maya Rudolph (who fronts the tribute band, Princess) rushed to the stage to perform beside the Purple One.

While this incredibly musical happening has only been seen through a few fort clips on the Instagram, former SNL cast member Tim Kazurinsky has finally shared the full performance. You can watch it below:

Tonight, SNL will honor Prince with a 90-minute special, entitled “Goodnight Sweet Prince,” which will feature various clips from his many appearance on the television show over the years.
