Railroad Earth returned to Colorado’s scenic Red Rocks Amphitheatre last weekend for what has become somewhat of a late-summer tradition for RRE. This time through they brought the Bill Kreutzmann-lead ensemble Billy & The Kids, featuring Tom Hamilton (American Babies/Joe Russo’s Almost Dead/Electron), Aron Magner (The Disco Biscuits) and Reed Mathis (Tea Leaf Green) as well as Grammy Award winning jazz/funk collective Snarky Puppy.

Feeling a bit “grateful” that night, Railroad Earth dialed up the Grateful Dead’s “Terrapin Station” for their encore, the first time the band has busted out the song since March 10, 2012 at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA, when they were joined by a certain Dead bassist, Phil Lesh. Needless to say, sparks flew on the Rocks. Watch the entire performance below:
