Former Led Zeppelin singer Robert Plant went on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last Friday, performing as a musical guest in promotion of his new album with The Sensational Shapeshifters. The album, lullaby and… The Ceaseless Roar, came out on September 8th, and Plant is briefly touring the US to support the release.

Aside from his performances of two songs on the show, Plant sat down with Fallon for some typical Jimmy Fallon shenanigans. The duo enlisted the help of a looper iPad app, which records sound and replays it continually, allowing Plant and Fallon to layer their vocals. Together, they tackled the doo-wop standard “Duke of Earl.” Plant plays the skeptic at first, but seems to warm up to the bit as it progresses.

Of course, Plant also gave rocking performances of two songs from his new album, “Rainbows” and “Turn It Up.”
