And on the second Friday of February 2016, Ween reunited for their first performance since 2011. Setting the gear shift high with three nights in Colorado, the childhood friends will once again grace their loyal fans tonight at 1STBANK Center. With another three night run to look forward to for East Coast Ween-ers, the band will be swinging through NYC this April. So far, they’ve announced three festivals, Okeechobee, LEVITATION, and Bonnaroo, but we have our fingers crossed that they’ll join us for a few more. This is the year for the return of the Boognish!
The story is simple: two kids meet in a middle school typing class and bond over the love of music. They start playing together and almost immediately choose the name Ween, for their love of The Ramones, then instinctively name themselves Gene Ween (Aaron Freeman) and Dean Ween (Mickey Melchiondo). And like that, it stuck.
Ween started as a duo backed up by a digital audio tape for the first ten years of their existence. They later expanded to a four, then five, piece band, now including Claude Coleman Jr. on drums, Dave Dreiwitz on bass, and Glenn McClelland on keys. They experimental, eclectic sounds will continue on… starting tonight!

Last week, Dean Ween shared some very exciting news in a Ween appreciation Facebook group, promising 94 songs, with no repeats, not including fan requests (which, according to Dean, they always take). That averages at a minimum of 31 songs per night over the three nights in Colorado. We can’t wait to see what they have in store for their triumphant return!Â
