Weird Al Yankovic has played a lot of roles in his career: musician, actor, director, author and… toy? The noted pop music parody singer/songwriter is taking his brand of madness to the toy shelves in a series of new collectibles toys from NECA Toys based on his various signature looks from over the years.

This new line of figures from isn’t his first foray into the world of articulated likenesses, however. That came when NECA added him to their ever growing line of “Special Guest” based figures from The Simpsons, that has included other such notables as Stephen Hawking, Britney Spears, Hugh Hefner and Mick Jagger.  The figure sold far better than expected, and has enjoyed a surge in value on after-market sites like eBay.

Yankovic’s Simpsons Figure

The just announced new figures look to be based on his more famous looks from throughout his career. The first figure shown features Weird Al in his eighties gear, accordion intact. With a plethora of looks to choose from, the choices are almost endless. We can only assume that his Michael Jackson inspired “Eat It” outfit, his “Amish Paradise” clothes and maybe even his elaborate Lady Gaga send ups from the “Perform This Way” video will make appearances.

The first teaser for the upcoming Weird Al toy line

Weird Al has quietly built a very solid career over the last thirty years, and through it all he’s managed to keep himself relevant. Besides his continuing album releases, he’s just signed to provide the voice for the title character of Milo in the upcoming animated series “Milo Murphys Law.” He’s even managed to stay so well preserved he’s being brought on ABC’s The Goldbergs to play himself, circa the mid-eighties. As of yet, no further details outside of the first teaser shot have been revealed for the coming line of figures, but details are expected soon.

Will we get a figure based on Yankovic’s inspired Kurt Cobain togs from his snarky “Smells Like Nirvana” send up?  We can only hope!
