According to a recent survey conducted by Eventbrite, the ticketing agency, music festival conversation increased by a full 34% from last year to this year, to the tune of 20 million conversations. Of that group, 75% were between the ages of 17 and 34.

Furthermore, of those conversations, 17% of them discussed the music festival experience as a whole, as opposed to a dicussions regarding individual artists or musicians performing at the festivals. With the experience factor becoming so important, the survey looked at which particular festivals were being discussed. You can see the top 25 listed below:

Bonnaroo, Buku Music, Art Project, Brooklyn Hip Hop, Burning Man, Coachella, Electric Daisy Carnival, Electric Zoo, Forecastle, Gathering of the Juggalos, Governor’s Ball, Gulf Coast Jam, Hangout, HARD Summer, iHeartRadio, Lollapalooza, Moogfest, Mysteryland, Pitchfork, South by Southwest, Spring Awakening, Sun City, Sunfest, Tomorrowworld, Ultra, and Warped Tour.

None of those entries are particularly surprising, as those are some of the most hyped, corporate-sponsored, music festival events in the country. Of the top 25, interestingly, eight of them are solely devoted to electronic music, whereas the others offer a mixed blend of musical genres.

The study then asked the question, where are people talking about festivals? You can see their map below:

States like California, Texas, Illinois, and New York lead the pack, with somewhat-surprising popularity in Tennessee, Louisiana, Wisconsin, and others. Considering that Tennessee is home to Bonnaroo and CMA Fest, and Louisiana is home to New Orleans, these entries are easily explained. Ultimately, it seems that states hosting major music festivals tend to discuss festivals more frequently.
