Widespread Panic Brings Out Their Photographer Andy Tennille To Jam In Detroit

Beloved jam band Widespread Panic has been on a tear throughout 2016, and last night was no exception. The band took up shop at The Fillmore in Detroit, MI, playing two sets worth of truly rocking music. As news broke that the band will do less touring in 2017, it seems they have all intention of making 2016 unforgettable.

The original-heavy performance kicked off with “Little Kin,” before jamming into tunes like “Glory” and “Who Do You Belong To?” An impressive run of “The Poorhouse of Positive Thinking > Diner > Papa’s Home” kept the first set rocking, while a “Gimme > North” brought it to a dramatic close. Set two featured more of the same explosive energy, including the band’s patented “Drums” improvisational segment between “Second Skin” and “Fishwater.”

One of the big highlights from the night was a show-ending cover of Jerry Joseph’s “Chainsaw City.” For this particular rendition, the band called upon their trusted photographer Andy Tennille, who lent his hand on some percussion for the finale.
