Following the kick-off of this year’s Jazz Fest in New Orleans this past weekend, the city is still in full swing. As the week in between weekend one and weekend two of the music-lover mecca unfolds, there’s still no lack of things to do around the Crescent City, as evidenced by the late-night going-ons over the past two nights. On Sunday night, after the last of the official Jazz Fest performances for the first weekend had wrapped up, funk masters Lettuce took to Tipitina’s Uptown to keep the party going.

Monday marked the start of the “Daze In Between,” as well as the start of New Orleans Crawfish Festival, which saw the stellar duo of Cris Jacobs and Ivan Neville grace its stages. Jacobs then moseyed to Chickie Wah Wah for a joint performance with Papa Mali which followed a performance by Luther Dickenson & Friends, which included the likes of Terence Higgins, Brady Blade, Roosevelt Collier, Eric Vogel, Sasha Brown, and Michael Carubba. At One Eyed Jacks, Organ Freeman was posted up along with MonoNeon and Mike Dillon. The Howlin’ Wolf was, predictably, also goin’ off, with Funkify Night, which featured members of The Nth Power, Dumpstaphunk, Corey Henry’s Treme Funktet, and Snarky Puppy getting into some ’80’s funk jams.

As always, Jazz Fest is the place to be this time of year, and this is only a small yet enviable sampling of the incredible musical collaborations going down across the town.
