Buddy Guy Brings Out Members of Bon Jovi, David Bowie’s Band, and More at BB King’s

At 79 years old, blues legend Buddy Guy is still showing that he has got what it takes to put on one of the more entertaining shows around. And in the wake of the sudden passing of another legend, New Orleans’ Allen Toussaint, from a heart attack after a show in Madrid, Spain, it seemed like this was a show that couldn’t be missed. When given the opportunity to see one of the last remaining icons of a past era, just buck up and go; you will be happy that you did when all is said and done.

Beloved New Orleans Icon Allen Toussaint Has Passed Away At 77 (A Retrospective)

The ultimate showman, Guy plays the blues, shares some hilarious stories, and has the respect of so many other musician’s, young and old. Last night was the perfect example, as Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan and the band’s guitarist Matt O’Ree joined Guy on stage, along with slide guitarist Earl Slick who has played with everyone from David Bowie and John Lennon, to the New York Dolls and Robert Smith. KISS guitarist Paul Stanely’s son, Evan Stanley, also joined in the fun on stage, and the 21-year old held his own with the veterans that graced the stage.

At one point for a solid 15 minutes, Guy, just to show off, literally walked around the entire venue while playing and singing, taking pictures with fans, flirting with women, and even getting behind the bar at BB King’s to take a solo. The crowd was loving every second of this incredible display of energy from 79-year old man moving around effortlessly with an axe strapped to him. Definitely one for the books.
