Gary Richards, also known as Destructo, did anything but take it easy on The Garret for his ‘His & Hers’ show last Saturday. The founder & creator of HARD headlined a free, yes free, show dead in the middle of gleaming downtown Miami. ‘His & Hers’ is the love child of Poplife and Off the Radar that focuses on bringing dancefloor classics as well as some fresh gems for you to groove to weekly. (In short, the stuff that gets your hips wiggling and your feet tapping). Alongside Destructo was Ray Milian & Aramis Lorie, who did an amazing job at keeping the party moving all night long. All that had to be done was a simple RSVP, and in about a minute you had a ticket to see the Don himself with some talented, local support.

HARD’s motto is “Trust us.” And you better bet your sweet tail that we do. Mr. Richards has been bringing light to artists and music that have a distinct and special sound. He knows what you should be listening to, so do your homework and take in the good. With events like Holy Ship, HARD Summer and Day of the Dead, it’s pretty easy to see this guy knows that he’s doing and doing it well (cue LL Cool J song).

Earlier on in the night, Gary spent most of his time at the bar chatting it up with fans and drinking some brews. In case you were wondering, the man likes Coronas; classic and sophisticated if you ask us.  After vibing out with the people he made his way onto the decks.

The Godfather dropped some exclusives that had the crowd saying “what the FUNK!” and booty clapping for more. Speaking of funk, when the intro of LA Funky crept up, there wasn’t a single person standing still. Even the girl passed out on the corner couch was brought back to life. Her once unconscious body hopped its way to the front of the stage and fancy footworked for the rest of the evening. Destructo should consider pitching the idea of possibly looping this song in hospitals nationwide. The groove, bass, and melody make this track an absolute dancefloor killer.

Holy Shippers were very present, chanting throughout most of the set and placing a “#ShipFam” fitted on Richard’s head crowning him ‘King of the Sea.’ Guess its time to step aside Poseidon. Ship love filled the room along with good vibes and smiles. It is clear that shippers hold a very special place in their heart for the man who brought them such a unique and unforgettable experience. We heart you, Gary.
