Earlier this week, Cage The Elephant, Portugal. The Man, and Broncho teamed up to help kick off the early season for NYC’s SummerStage concert series. Taking place in the world-famous Central Park, the three performers captivated on the beautiful spring evening with hours of incredible music.

Portugal. The Man came out promptly at 7pm, wanting to beat the venue’s 10pm curfew. Their hourlong set leaned heavily towards selections from their recently-released Evil Friends record. Much like the albums, the songs bled one into the other in the live setting without any breaks. The band was rockin’ it from start to finish, thoroughly impressing with a great performance.

Cage the Elephant’s set was full of energy, playing a fair amount of material from their new record Tell Me I’m Pretty. Singer Matt Schultz kept the crowd hanging on the band’s every note, running around the stage, screaming and jumping on the backs of his bandmates. Their anthemic tunes like “Ain’t No Rest For The Wicked,” “In One Ear,” and “Shake Me Down” had fans dancing and crowd-surfing throughout the night. This was musical passion at its finest!
