It’s been over a decade since Claude VonStroke crew started setting up camp in Golden Gate Park on Sundays – since then, the Dirtybird label has made a name for itself as one of the leaders in the re-emerging house scene, setting the bar high with releases from the likes of Justin Martin, Kill Frenzy, Shiba San, and label head VonStroke. After becoming a staple event of Miami Music Week, the Dirtybird BBQ has gone on tour, bringing beats and barbecue to Williamsburg, Brooklyn for the first time.

Taking over the lot on Kent and N 11th that has been used in the past for Mad Decent Block Party, as well as the weekly Brooklyn Flea, a packed crowd turned out for a day full of Dirtybird’s signature sound. Sets from newcomers Ardalan, Justin Jay, and Kill Frenzy, as well as Dirtybird vets Justin and Christian Martin and VonStroke filled the air throughout the day, while eager dance music fans took in the perfect weather, cold beer, and food from a variety of vendors. As is somewhat a tradition of the modern Dirtybird BBQ, the DJs were joined by special guests that brought a hip hop flair to the party as legends EPMD closed down the night.

As dance music reaches new heights every day, Dirtybird Records has carved out a niche of hardcore fans, as seen by the rabid response to the event’s initial announce. Dirtybird is a name to trust with a defined sound, consistently releasing new and exciting tracks from the likes of VonStroke and Martin, but also fresh names like Mark Starr and Shiba San. Seeing (dirybird) next to a new release is always a reason to give a listen at this point.

UPDATE: Claude VonStroke has released a hilarious new video for his new track CaliFuture which can be viewed here.
