On Friday night in Chicago, Future Rock and North American Scum (ft. members of Turbo Suit and Digital Tape Machine) played a co-bill show at Concord Music Hall as an official North Coast Music Festival after-party. North American Scum opened up the show with their tribute set to LCD Soundsystem, which featured covers of “Us vs. Them”, the apropos “Daft Punk is Playing at My House”, and “I Can Change”. Marcus Rezak led the charge on lead guitar, while Joe Hettinga held it down on keys/synths, and David Embry did his best James Murphy impression.

Future Rock, or Daft Rock on this night, played a set that literally sounded like Daft Punk. It was uncanny. As they rocked through hits such as “Alive,” “One More Time,” and other tracks made famous by the French duo of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, people were simply getting down. It was a fantastic show that ended with both bands joining each other on stage for a cover of LCD Soundsystem’s “All My Friends” (check it out below). Definitely one of the many highlights of the night, with Marcus Rezak taking a fantastic solo to give the song some extra length and give a fitting end to a proper late-night dance party.
