Take one incredibly funky/jazzy English rock band, add a fantastic June evening atmosphere, put them on a rock’n boat coasting along the East River in view of the Manhattan skyline and you’ve got yourself one extraordinary show! But wait, is that the Statue of Liberty directly above us at set break?!?

Indeed, Rocks Off put on yet another sick Concert Cruise production this past Wednesday night, June 17th, featuring two excellent sets by The New Mastersounds. Eddie Roberts shredding his guitar to pieces, Simon Allen effortlessly finessing the drums, Pete “I don’t smile in public” Shand slammin the bass and Joe Tatton crushing the keys. This foursome didn’t seem phased in the slightest by the swaying of the Jewel as she coasted down river carrying a crowd of beautiful people eager to get down on a Wednesday night and forget about their weekday troubles.

The New Mastersounds are an extremely talented foursome of fantastic personalities who’ve been ripping, shredding and throwing their way down and across the scene for the past 15 years. Their music is positive, fast paced, jazzy and funky, and is appreciated by an eclectic group of die hard fans around the world. They are not a band to miss.

Rocks Off is a production company bent on listening to excellent music and having a damn good time. Their Concert Cruise Series, ranging from April – October, is always one of the highlights of the summer.

There really is no better way to spend a Humpday evening than kicking back aboard the Jewel and watching a bunch of goofballs mopping up the electric illuminated dance floor of the poop-deck. Many thanks to The New Mastersounds and Rocks Off for a sick Wednesday night performance and production. Watch out for that wave!
