Pat Casey and The New Sound ft. Robin Barnes brought the groove to the Maple Leaf Bar, kicking off their April residency at the New Orleans venue. Performing alongside Pat Casey was Robin Barnes, Khris Royal, Eric “Benny” Bloom, Alvin Ford Jr., and Jason Butler. Their refreshing sound exceeded New Orleans’ rigid music standards, while pushing the envelope creatively.

The set was a mix of original tunes and covers. Robin Barnes provided the soul with her powerful vocals while each musician took lengthy solos. Looking around at the crowd, it was obvious everyone was having a great time. The band exchanged laughs while cracking jokes on stage. This show definitely embodied the playful spirit of New Orleans.

Watch Khris Royal film himself during his “Cantaloupe Island” solo.

Below is another clip of the performance and a gallery of the entire evening.

If you missed last week’s show, you have another chance to catch Pat Casey and The New Sounds, next Wednesday, April 13th at the Maple Leaf Bar!
