In a sleepy mountain town, seven hours from Denver and 9,000 feet above sea-level, thousands of Pretty Lights fans made the same pilgrimage that Grateful Dead and Phish fans made in 1987 and 2010, respectively. With its storied history, Telluride, CO was flooded with good vibes and friendly faces, eager to hear two nights of Pretty Lights and the Analog Future Band.

After opener Sand Dunes, Pretty Lights took the stage as the sun began to set, reflecting off the mountain peaks in the distance.  Starting off with “Gold Coast Hustle”, the golden lighting receded to darkness and the temperature began to drop – and the grooves started to get real.

Even though the band, which includes Adam Deitch, Benny Bloom, Eric Krasno, Borahm Lee, Scotty Flynn & Chris Karns, had not performed together since Jam Cruise back in January, they brought a tight improvised jam/break oriented interpretation of such PL classics throughout the night. Cuts like “Future Blind” and “Cold Feeling” almost seemed to indicate that the group had been touring together all year.

Pretty Lights and company laid it all out there in a very natural and intimate setting – everyone who was in attendance appreciated the chance to be there for it.

After the show, Deitch and Lee teamed up for a fiery Break Science throwdown at the Sheridan Opera House nearby. The after party was a blazing set of undeniable dance grooves, and a number of special guests helped put the cap on an incredible day of music.
