The String Cheese Incident took over beautiful Marymoor Amphitheater on Friday night. The iPhone may have predicted rain, but the weather decided to bless those in attendance with a beautiful sub-80 degree night. The boys opened with “Can’t Stop Now” and then cruised right into “Born On the Wrong Planet”. It was clear from the get-go that SCI was feeling the energy as the crowd went wild at at every twist and turn the band took. “Valley of the Jig” got the booties shaking to end the first set, but it has to be noted that Kyle stood out as king of the first set as he brought the funk to every jam.

As the sun began to set during set break, everyone in the park was excited for what was on the way. Cheese opened with “You’ve Got The World” and Kyle brought out the talk box for some special effects. Then “Ms. Browns Teahouse” into “Dudley’s Kitchen” proved to be quite the journey, as the band let things open up. SCI kept the heater of a show going with “Joyful Sound”, “Lets Go Outside”, and “Just One Story”, which ended the second set with a crowd left in sheer awe of the synergy this group is playing with at the moment.

Billy brought everyone back out for the encore to his newly-penned song “Down a River”, which was beautifully serene. That was followed up by a monster “Voodoo Child”, which saw Kang take over on the mandolin and end the show on a rocking note. Overall, it was an amazing show at a gorgeous venue.
