On April 1 & 2, 2016, LettucePurple Hat Productions, and Live for Live Music will host Fool’s Paradise, a funk-fueled destination beach event taking place in the heart of one of America’s most historic cities: St. Augustine, FL. Here are ten things you need to know about Fool’s Paradise:

1. The lineup is one-of-a-kind. 

Complete with unique collaborations and full-set superjams, Fool’s Paradise will feature two explosive sets from New York funk masters Lettuce & Friends, along with: electro soul future-funk producer/saxophonist GRiZ; rising retro-soul stars Vulfpeck, and Chris Robinson’s Soul Revue. Supporting acts include South Africa’s organic live house duo Goldfish and the progressive soul, R&B and gospel of The Nth Power. Electronic future-funk producers Marvel Years and Brasstracks have also been added to the bill, as well as local favorites Herd of Watts, The Groove Orient, Morning Fatty, and Love Chunk. With Snarky Puppy’s Cory Henry as an Artist-At-Large, you’ll never know what to expect over the weekend! 2. Lettuce and GRiZ will perform a live collaboration for the first time.

For the first time ever, renowned electronic pioneer GRiZ and funk powerhouse Lettuce will join forces! The exciting full-band collaboration will take place during the second half of GRiZ‘s Friday evening set on 4/1. Lettuce will help GRiZ close out the headlining set on the first night of the two-day event.

“This is gonna be different than anything else,” GRiZ posted. “We’re taking out the computers and performing as an all live funk band. Expect a few new versions of GRiZ tunes”. Read more about the exciting first-time-ever live collaboration here.

3. Chris Robinson’s Soul Revue will feature founding members of funk, among some of the best players in the game.

Chris Robinson will be teaming up with George Porter Jr., Ivan Neville, Eric Krasno, Neal Casal, Nikki Glaspie, and more for the Fool’s Paradise very special Soul Revue set on Saturday. These funky fellas will be lighting up the night with funk, soul, and everything in between. Read more about each of the seasoned musicians here.

4. There are plenty of late-night shows at the local watering holes. 

When the music ends at the Amphitheatre, some late night ragers are going down across the street at the Elk’s Lodge. The full late night lineup includes Vulfpeck and Break Science on Friday, as well as Goldfish and The Fools of Funk supergroup on Saturday. Also happening less than two miles down the road is “Fool Moon,” a late-night offering at St. Augustine music scene staple (and grilled cheese emporium), Planet Sarbez. Both nights will feature blowout sets by Jacksonville powerhouse Herd of Watts; on Friday they’ll be joined by Gainesville reggae-funk monsters Morning Fatty, and on Saturday MANẎFEST will kickstart the night, with Orlando’s rock machine The Groove Orient shutting it down. 5. The Fools Of Funk will blow your mind.

On Saturday, April 2nd, a very special late night show brings the two-day event to a close, while also bringing the mysterious Fools Of Funk supergroup to life. The long-awaited lineup for Fools For Funk includes: Adam Deitch (drums, Lettuce/Break Science), Adam Smirnoff (guitar, Lettuce), Cory Henry (keys/bass, Snarky Pupppy), Nigel Hall (vocals, keys), Weedie Braimah (percussion, The Nth Power), Eric “Benny” Bloom  (trumpet, Lettuce/Shady Horns), Ryan Zoidis (saxophone, Lettuce/Shady Horns) and special guests TBA. 6. Cory Henry will be there to up-the-funk in any given situation as an Artist-At-Large. 

Snarky Puppy‘s own Cory Henry will be joining the funk all weekend long as an Artist-At-Large. While confirmed as part of the lineup for the Fools of Funk supergroup, there’s no telling what other magical surprises the Grammy Award-winning multi-instrumentalist has in store! 

7. There will be artist-led excursions.

There’s more to look forward to than just the music, as Fool’s Paradise is also offering exciting Florida excursions with your favorite artists! Whether it’s mini-golf with Lettuce’s Eric Krasno and Jesus Coomes, a crocodile crossing and zip-lining adventure with Break Science’s Borahm Lee, or a sailing escapade with Ryan Zoidis and Eric “Benny” Bloom, you’ll be rocking your Saturday alongside the best. 8. Local bands will be swimming with talent, all day and all night.

Florida favorites Herd of WattsThe Groove OrientMorning Fattyand Love Chunk will be holding down the Shipwreck Stage in the early hours of the day before the doors open to the Amphitheatre main stage. They’ll also be throwing down late-night ragers at Planet Sarbez. 9. You can eat the local digs at the Farmer’s Market on Saturday morning.

Come visit the Old City Farmers Market for fresh produce, baked goods, hand-crafted items, and plants directly from the producers. There’s even fresh seafood in season. From 8:30AM-12:30PM on Saturday, the Farmers Market will be the place to be. A true farmers market with great offerings from some of the areas finest organic farms and talented crafters, with free admission, live entertainment, and much more. Just steps away from the Amphitheatre, you can get there early, chow down, and join the Fool’s Paradise party for the afternoon music into the night!

10. St. Augustine is perhaps the coolest city in North America.

The oldest city in the United States and fabled home to the Fountain of Youth, St. Augustine’s unique scenery and historical presence sets the city apart from any other in the country.
