The String Cheese Incident is known for being rather crafty when it comes to their cover song selection. Over the years, the group has demonstrated a bit of a “no stone left unturned” attitude in covering some of their favorite artists. With their annual three-night run at Suwannee Hulaween down in Live Oak, FL, SCI has a little fun with their special themed, or “costume” set that they perform every year. This year’s theme looks to be a great one, as it was recently announced to be Stringier Things: Celebrating The 80’s.

Hulaween just sold out of Advance Tier 1 tickets and the rest are moving quickly! Head to their website for tickets and more information.

The 80’s are a decade the group knows all too well, so we decided to take a look back at some of SCI’s most memorable covers from one of the more unique decades in music history. While some of the songs below have become staples in the Cheese catalog over the years, you can bet they are going to pull off plenty of surprises for their themed Halloween set. Thus, we looked back at some of the 80’s covers they have already pulled off in their career, as well as a few that we would love to see them play at this year’s Hulaween.

Take a listen below, and we’ll see you down at Spirit of the Suwannee!

– Prince’s “Kiss” (1986’s Kiss) into David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance” (1983’s Let’s Dance) into Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” (1984’s Purple Rain) back into Bowie’s “Space Oddity” from his 1969 self-titled album, from Electric Forest 2016 with Karl Denson on sax:

– Talking Heads’ “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) (1983’s Speaking in Tongues), from 7/23/10:

– Paul Simon’s “Under African Skies” (1986’s Graceland), from 7/5/12:

– A-Ha’s “Take On Me” (1985’s Hunting High and Low) (16:15 mark in video), from Electric Forest 2015:

– Beastie Boys’ “No Sleep ’til Brooklyn” (1986’s Licensed to Ill) (taped by Freddie G), from the Big Summer Classic in Brooklyn, NY 7/21/05:

– The Clash’s “Rock The Casbah” (1982’s Combat Rock), from 10/31/2004:

– Tears For Fears’ “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” (1985’s Songs From The Big Chair), from Red Rocks on 7/15/16:

– Rick James’ “Super Freak” (1981’s Street Songs) from the Sunshine Daydream Festival, 8/7/04 (taped by Brian Hadella):

And here are a few tracks that we would love for SCI to pull off during their 80’s themed set:

– Rockwell’s “Somebody’s Watching Me” (1984) with vocals from Michael Jackson:

– Sweden’s own Europe and their mega-hit “The Final Countdown” (1986):

– Eddy Grant’s hit “Electric Avenue” (1982):
