Plenty of high-profile celebrities have professed their love for The Grateful Dead throughout the years, but there is perhaps no Deadhead as visible as Bill Walton—both in the figurative and literal sense. A longtime fan of the band, the NBA Hall of Famer has developed a friendship with the band over the years and is frequently spotted at shows, from Fare The Well to Dead & Co tour—at almost 7 feet tall, he’s pretty hard to miss in a crowd.

In recent years, he’s made some amusing cameos on the stage as well. In addition to appearing as part of Dead & Company’s 2015 New Year’s Eve shenanigans in Los Angeles as a Jedi Father Time, Walton helped close out Dead & Co’s 2016 summer tour by joining drummers Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann and bassist Oteil Burbridge for their nightly “Drums” segment.

Happy birthday to the Dead’s biggest (or, at least, tallest) fan, Bill Walton! Here’s to many more circles around the sun!
