The Disco Biscuits will head to New Orleans at the end of this month for a pair of shows at the newly opened Fillmore New Orleans on Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th. Instrumental prog-jam quartet TAUK will serve as support on the 26th, while the show on the 27th will be all Biscuits.

During New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, the term “late-night” is used in a broad sense, frequently referring to any shows going on around the city after the fairgrounds close up shop each day at 7 p.m. The Disco Biscuits shows, however, will be true late-night blowouts, beginning after midnight each night and stretching into the early hours of the morning.

The band has enjoyed some classic moments in New Orleans in the past. As bassist Marc Brownstein tells Live For Live Music, “We had some good ones at The Howlin’ Wolf—a ‘Crickets’/’Munchkin’ for the ages, 4/28/01.”

You can listen to that memorable “Crickets” > “Munchkin Invasion” > “Crickets” and the rest of the aforementioned 4/28/01 show at The Howlin’ Wolf below:

While the various members of the band regularly play in New Orleans during Jazz Fest with a myriad of side projects, The Disco Biscuits have not performed in the “Crescent City” in over a decade. Their last trip to the “Big Easy” was back in 2008, when they played a pair of shows at the very beginning of that year’s Jazz Fest season. This may be the first New Orleans run for The Disco Biscuits in more than ten years, the band members are regulars in the Crescent City during Jazz Fest. As Brownstein notes, “At this point I am going every year to either perform or mostly just to hang out, so I do try to encourage all of the acts I play with to play down there.”

In a recent Facebook post, Brownstein expressed his excitement about his busy schedule New Orleans this year. “I’m so excited for jazzfest. My favorite week of the year as a fan and my day job are about to collide. Two Biscuits shows, with special guests, two SPAGA shows [by Biscuits bandmate Aron Magner at Three Keys on Sunday, April 28th and Monday, April 29th], and a Star Kitchen blowout [featuring Magner, Eric Krasno, Shira Elias, Khris Royal, and more at Maison on Sunday, April 28th]!”
