Gang of Thieves just released their new single “The Way I Feel,” from their upcoming EP TOTEM. Produced and recorded by Grammy-winning Michael Rosen (Rancid, Santana, Less Than Jake, AFI) in Berkeley, CA, TOTEM will be released in full in late November.

Packing their live performances with high energy and unforgettable showmanship, the Vermont funk rockers bring forth a new breed of Rock and Roll to create a powerful sound palatable to audiences of all kinds. Featuring an electric violin tastefully woven into solid rock grooves, the Gang blends a variety of genres into memorable tunes that beg listeners to sing and dance along.

“The Way I Feel” was initially written at Mountain Star Recording Studio in Black Hawk, CO during the Gang of Thieves’ “Work Together” tour. “We had been away from home for a while, the song is definitely a reflection of that,” explains vocalist/violinist Michael Reit. “It represents the feeling of being stuck between a rock and a hard place, or when you are faced with a difficult choice. Whether it has to do with work or family, any event or situation we may be involved in. We all can relate to feeling as if we have our ‘back up against a wall’.”

TOTEM is set to be released late November. The EP will serve as Gang of Thieves’ debut recorded performance in their current lineup, which is comprised of original members Michael Reit (lead vocals / electric violin), Nick Wood (guitar), and Tobin Salas (bass), joined by the most recent addition, Taylor Whipple (drums, formerly of The Lynguistic Civilians). After numerous lineup changes, the band has solidified themselves again as a four piece rock and roll outfit, so naturally the band wanted to showcase their new sound in these recordings. “The 4 piece arrangement allows us all much more space. We feel like we can read each other’s minds, there’s so much kinetic energy around,” emphasizes Nick Wood.
